Down the Rabbit Hole

Oh get your mind out of the gutter. I'm talking about this of course! Opens today! I may even fight the crowds and take my son to go see it after he takes his SATs tomorrow.

Speaking of the talkies, I took my son this weekend to see Shutter Island, which I saw for the second time, and enjoyed.

Let us know your review! I may see it as well. Not sure how they will transfer Carroll's clever language to the big screen.

Heydave, I was a little disappointed in "Shutter Island" - It was so over-the-top with references to other horror greats that I thought it needed more humor to pull off. It was almost like Mel Brooks' "High Anxiety" but without the humor! Weird, I know, but that's just me. The friend I went with loved it.

Freewheel, I loved "Alice In Wonderland"! I'm not all that wowed by the whole 3-D thing, but I thought the film itself was very well done. Great cast. I had two nitpicky complaints: One is in the scene at the beginning when the dad is saying goodnight to little Alice and she is asking him if he thinks she's crazy. The child character was wearing waaaay too much make-up and it was obvious. In this day and age, that shouldn't be necessary, seems to me. The other is just a personal thing: I thought they should have used a real dog instead of an animatron.

Boy I'm making myself sound pretty hard to please, aren't I? I suppose I am. But, really, overall I really liked A in W.
