For some reason, this little tune has been running through my mind while watching all the various celebratory hoo-haws on TV:
My son actually called me last night to tell me the news, and was surprised at my lackluster response - "I thought you'd be HAPPY!" he said, and I told him I was. But this reaction seems more true to me. Still, there's plenty of good commentary from the usual suspects, from serious and thoughtful to ironic to downright hilarious, and that's not even getting down to the wingnut response, which is as predictable as night and day.
