"I'm sorry you misunderstood what I said." aka "I'm sorry my comments were misinterpreted." is not an apology. Especially when it is a lie.
I'm almost sympathetic - it's very hard to own up to your shit. But a lot of people respond to that dilemma by burying themselves under more shit. This is not helpful. Ask Anthony Weiner. Unfortunately, Fox News & Assoc. have covered themselves in mountains of shit.

Based on your comment, I thought the link would be about the Christie helicopter incident. That non-apology was particularly grating due to his self-importance.
