Mike and I have been having a friendly little conversation with local conservative blogger named Nick who responded to my point that the for-profit private insurance industry in this country has failed to provide the citizens of this country with adequate access to health care by beginning his next post with this sentence:
With regards to free market health care, one of the big reasons it is failing to work for everyone is excessive government regulation — you know, like Obama is proposing with his “reforms.”
Oh that Obama and his silly "reforms"! The Government just needs to step out of the picture altogether and let the insurance companies run their businesses how they please and THEN all our problems would be solved, right?
These talks make me tired. I think I'll let Dan Froomkin take it from here.
