Truthiness

File this under "No Shit!" or "You Don't Say!":

Of course, Huckabee was probably less concerned with being right, and more concerned with impressing the religious right. And their standards for accuracy are pretty low.

And this under "Yeah, yeah, we know Michael Moore is fat."

And this under "Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them" (Thanks Al Franken!)

I bet I can guess who some of the folks will be in your blogroll when you get it set up!
I really need to update mine.

I don't think the Huckabee gaffe will get alot of attention mainly because I don't think he will ever be more than a second or third tier candidate. Not even with Chuck Norris' endorsement.

An interesting thing to keep in mind about the oil reserves is that their worth is just speculative. If we could actually access all of that oil under Iraq today, it wouldn't be worth $10 trillion because we don't need that much oil and the price per barrell would plummet.
It's all about control. Maintaining a level of supply that just meets (and maybe a little short) demand to keep the prices up and the profits rolling in.

If someone held a gun to my head and said I had to vote for a Republican, I would probably pick John McCain. I could see McCain getting in there and yanking us out of Iraq in a heartbeat. Giuliani, on the other hand, is a neo-con zombie. Scary!

Well, if there's one thing we've learned from the Bush Model of truthiness, it's that it works. A large majority of Americans still believe that Iraq was behind 9/11. And I'm willing to bet that, if polled, a large majority would declare that Huckabee was just reciting historical fact.

Gah! Mike, that will be quite enough of the image of someone "holding a gun to my head and (saying) I had to vote for a Republican" - I know it's almost Halloween and all, but that's way too scary. I've gone round and round about McCain, but it's a moot point, don't you think? He's toast. I think Giuliani will be the Republican nominee, and I'm cautiously optimistic that we can beat him. I wonder if the RR will really split off and run a third party candidate? What a circus.

Freewheel, you got that right. I have been yammering for years about the fact that what is really behind the R's assault on public education is the desire to dumb down enough voters to keep them in the majority. But with the Bush years, perhaps they've overplayed their hand, finally. This would be such a perfect time for a true progressive leader to step up to the plate, and it's just exasperating that, so far, it isn't happening.

Thanks so much for commenting guys! I haven't gotten around to my blogroll yet, but for sure you know you two will be on it! Mike, maybe we can chat sometime about how I might go about posting some artwork too? Wow, this is so much fun!!! I never dreamed!

Giuliani scares me more than McCain even though he pretends to be a social moderate. He has filled his campaign with the same bunch of neo-con advisors who led us into the Iraq war in the first place and are now trying to extend our involvement into Iran. If anyone would be likely to continue to mislegacy of Bush Jr., it's Guiliani.

By the way, which browser are you using? It seems to make a difference with the tools that you can use in Blogger. When I create a page using IE or Firefox I have access to a lot of tools that don't come up when I'm using Safari.
Anyway, one of the tools at the top of the box where you type in your text looks like a picture or a painting. Click on it and it will open up a window where you can upload a photo that will be posted on your blog.

For me, it's a close call in picking the scariest GOP candidate. It would be so easy if Cheney were running. I guess I'll have to wait and see who he endorses. I think his daughter is working for Thompson.

Cheney's daughter is a piece of work, isn't she? Well duh, look who her parents are - how could she NOT be screwed up? She certainly seems to have gumption, I'll grant her that. Anyway, I couldn't begin to pick a "scariest" GOP candidate - Our country simply can't afford, in any way, another Republican administration, no matter who is president. There is serious damage to our system of government that needs to be repaired, and frankly, I don't have a whole lot of faith in our current Democratic frontfunners to be up to the challenge. Nevertheless, no question that even a weak Democratic administration is going to be better than the further mayhem that would be wrought by any of the current Republican contenders.
