I can't find this Applebaum column. The last one she did was on Iran. Gene Robinson has had some strong columns about Polanski, including his column in today's WaPo.
Yeah, then when challenged on it, dug herself deeper into the hole with more and more specious arguments. The link in the LG&M post lead to an email she wrote to someone who challenged her column. Her response in that email is almost worse than her original column, as its recipient and Scott Lemieux clearly show. Thanks for the link FW!
Also, I have appreciated Robinson's columns on this (and other) issue. But Atrios points out that in today's column he is getting on the Bash Hollywood bandwagon without noting that his own paper has engaged is some of the most egregious defenses of Polanski.
