Even though, since the '70s, Virginia Slims has informed us constantly that women can now die of lung cancer at the same rate as men, it can sometimes be useful to look back and realize that we have, indeed, come a long way. This is helpful in reminding us that change IS possible, as well as in giving some perspective to those who might not have lived through more difficult times. I like to save these little vignettes and send them in response to those emails I get occasionally that wax nostalgic about the Good Old Days before the DFH ruined everything.
