Foreign Policy

Coals to Newcastle here but:

Two good posts.

Those two are examples of adult, thoughtful discussions of the very important issue of who we should elect to become President of our country.

This one should probably get more play for effectiveness, though.

The Fallows post is particularly thoughtful, I think. As the Republicans rush to defend her with nitpicky arguments about how the questions were unfair (by the way, when I asked my 15-year-old what the Bush Doctrine was, he said, "You mean go to war first, ask questions later?"), they are missing the larger point -- her entire demeanor and approach was unthoughtful, brash, overly confident and utterly Bush-esque. She doesn't know what she doesn't know, and, worse, she doesn't seem to think it matters.

Kudos to you and your 15-year-old Donna! And thanks for a great comment. Glad you're back, too - been missing you!

Regarding what you say about Republicans' defense of Palin "missing the larger point" - That, frankly, seems to be the point of most of their defenses about anything. They simply must know that they cannot prevail in a straightforward debate of the issues, so it's all prevarication, smoke and mirrors.
