They are not "conservatives"

I can think of many things to call the gang of criminal thugs that currently hold sway over our government and the mouth-breathing morons that want to re-elect their carbon copy successors, but "conservative" is not among them. To be academic about it - and to avoid, if one must, profanity - the proper term for them is "radical rightwing reactionaries." We are in the throes of a revolution, and it has nothing whatsoever to do with "conservatism." I venture to say that a large percentage of Americans who currently label themselves "conservatives" have no idea what the term actually means, either in its current form or its more academically correct, historical form.

UPDATE: Also not "conservatives" (and not "Christians," however much they claim that mantle) are the "Christianists."

It must be getting bad for McCain and his conservative ilk. He is apparently suspending campaigning and has asked to reschedule the debate that is scheduled for this Friday.

Maybe because he will get NAILED on the economy and the troubles that stem from his ties :-)

Here's Atrios on that, Ricky:

That's A Mavericky Stunt We Can Believe In

McCain is suspending campaign (whatever that means) and going to Washington so he can have pictures taken of him looking like he's doing something. Asks that Obama do the same, and wants Friday's debate to be postponed, because he can't possibly do 2 things at once.
