What Are We, Kansas?

Weeping Jesus on the cross, the morons just never give up, do they? If you have some spare change and are feeling charitable this holiday season, give a nod to the Texas Freedom Network. They're a good bunch and, Lord knows their task is a mighty one. What is WRONG with these people?!!

UPDATE: The inimitable Amanda weighs in.

UPDATE: As does our friend Mike who has some good information on the delegation that evaluated the ICS, as well as a link to a great blog called Millard Fillmore's Bathtub. Thanks Mike!

Damn girl, that's some bona fide extra-thick stoopid.
Tell me agin: why Texas?

(sigh) What can I say, heydave. Some things just defy explanation.

*double sigh* 'Course, I don't know what I'm bragging about: I'll be part of The First Caucus!

And the burden of telling you all how to think can really get sticky.

I can't get over the fact that they sent a Baptist preacher as part of the delegation to evaluate this creationist outfit. Who is pulling the strings over there at the Higher Education Coordinating Board?
We need to get some answers quick.

Check out this member of the THECB:

Brenda Pejovich
• Board Member, Texas Public Policy Foundation
• Advisory Board Member, Foundation for Responsible Television
• Member, Heritage Foundation, DFW Community Committee
• Member, Board of Trustees, Media Research Center

Sounds like she’s got pretty good wingnut credentials. Most of them aren’t that blatant about it.

We should not forget that, while the nation has had to endure the command of Little Lord Chimpy for the past six years, Texas has borne this burden for an additional 5 years before THAT. Granted, the governorship of Texas has limits that are but a shadow of a memory to the POTUS, but there is no doubt that Leininger made the most of having his dupe willing to sign whatever was put in front of him. James Leininger's pet issue is education (Leininger co-founded the Texas Public Policy Foundation), or rather the evisceration of public education and it is far from any accident that the current state BOE is stacked to the gills with wingnuts for whom that is their ultimate goal. Progressives have a long way to go to catch up with the work and organization that the far right has been engaged in for many, many years. Like global warming, I'm afraid it's one of those things that we've become aware of possibly too late to really do anything about it.

There are lots of Texas clergy who could do a good evaluation -- I'm concerned that they sent a library professional and got no bad comments on their near-total lack of library access, and I'm concerned that no one seems to be worried that there might be legal issues in granting degrees in doing things that are not legal in U.S. public schools.

Write your state senator and state representative, please. Call Gov. Perry. Holler.

Ed Darrell - Thanks for stopping by! I hope you'll make it a regular practice, and comment often.

Yep, we're Kansas.

Don McLeroy had a letter in the Dallas paper this morning. I've commented, but I have the full text of his letter, and links, if you want to ignore my comments:
