Another reason to impeach the SOB

"D" over at LG&M imagines the new Bush "Library" reminding us that:
What's truly jaw-dropping about SMU's decision, though, is that the library comes with an affiliated "institution" whose openly partisan mission will be to continue promoting the "ideas and views" of George W. Bush. The institution will be sited on SMU's campus but will not actually be under the control of the university itself.
Then of course there's this and this and this. As Atrios likes to say, Document the atrocities.

Picking SMU to host his library was a boneheaded move that I still do not understand.
He could have gone with Texas Tech University in Lubbock and there would have been none of this controversy. They LOVE him in Lubbock! They would have worshipped the ground he walks on! And it would have made much more sense. What connection does he have to SMU other than that is where Laura went to school? None.
But he used to live and work in Midland/Odessa, just down the road from Tech, and he made his first foray into politics running for Congress to represent Lubbock.
But then I guess doing something smart like that would have been totally out of character for Bush.

Just spitballing here, but my guess would be that SMU is seen as more prestigious than Tech, and they couldn't get Rice or UT-Austin. The fact that any school in the country would be willing to house this travesty is beyond me. I hope SMU pays dearly for this mistake.

I feel badly for the folks in Lubbock. They have struggled long and hard to make Tech into a more prestigious institution. Landing the Bush Library would have been a big feather in their cap and no one would have seen it as a travesty. I'm not kidding when I say that they love him there. He's like a native son in that part of West Texas. The 19 percent of the population that still thinks Bush is the cat's meow - most of them live in Lubbock.
And what does Bush do to repay this undying loyalty? He gives them the middle finger, of course.

What we call the liebury has not totally passed, as it violates the Methodist Church methods (big on methods y'know) and will be protested at the coming church conference. oh, and thanks for the link re: first do harm.
