The Beast We Have Become

John Cole nails a comparison:
Again, I am not letting Spitzer off the hook for being an abusive prosecutor and a first-class hypocrite (and I am so sick and tired of these assholes dragging their poor wives onto the podium after they get busted). Eliot Spitzer is losing his job, Bush is still in office and Don Rumsfeld is probably scheduling a book tour.

To me, that is criminal.
Last week, our President vetoed a bill that would have outlawed torture. Torture. That this is just a drop in the bucket of the countless outrages committed by this administration such that this is barely a blip on the radar screen of our public consciousness and that this man STILL holds sway in our country's highest office, not only NOT diffusing but ACTIVELY ENCOURAGING the panic-stricken, bed-wetting ignorance of bottom-feeding discourse such as this tells us what we need to know about ourselves.

P.S. Once again, I want to commend our friend Mike for his valiant efforts to bring some sanity into a realm where little has existed before. It is a task that I find too often overwhelming.

Thanks, Ann.
It's like seeing somebody drowning in a pig trough. You jump in and drag them out, only to see them turn around and dive back in again.
D'oh!

That is a perfect analogy, Mike. I hate that our government keeps providing the slop for the trough.
